From Brussels to Belgrade: How the EU Digital Identity Wallet Impacts Business

May 18, 2026

In the April issue of CEE Legal Matters (Issue 13.3), an interview with Ivan Todorović, Partner at PR Legal, was published, focusing on the EU Digital Identity Wallet and its implications for business in the region.

The article focuses on one of the key regulatory and technological developments in the European Union – the introduction of the EU Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI Wallet), which enables individuals and companies to securely manage and share verified digital credentials. Particular attention is given to the concept of selective data disclosure, as well as to the roles of various stakeholders within this ecosystem.

It also analyzes the new legal framework based on the eIDAS 2 Regulation, which requires EU Member States to implement digital wallets and obliges certain industries to accept them in business operations.

Although Serbia is not a member of the EU, the article highlights the relevance of these developments for domestic companies – especially those working with EU partners – and the need for timely preparation through adjustments to business processes and a deeper understanding of emerging digital identity models.
